The Office of the Municipal Clerk is the oldest municipal office in continuous operation within the City of Camden, and has existed prior to the formal incorporation of the City of Camden on February 13th, 1828.

The Office of Municipal Clerk fulfills several important duties - among them are:

Vital Statistics - Birth and Death Certificates, Marriage Licenses (please note: all visitors must show valid identification to obtain either licenses and/or certificates);

City Council support - legislative and legal support, advisement and coordination of the City Council agenda, filing of municipal resolutions and ordinances are completed within this office;

Records Management - records retention, storage (whether they are hard copy or electronic copy) and destruction as well as day to day preservation are conducted through this office;

OPRA - Open Public Records Act - requests are completed through the Office of Municipal Clerk (for a copy of an OPRA request, click here.)

Elections - Oversight of municipal, school and/or primary elections are the responsibility of the Municipal Clerk;

Boards and Commissions - minutes of the City's various boards and Commissions are, by law, required to be deposited and maintained by the Municipal Clerk;

Alcoholic Beverage Control - Alcoholic beverage licenses and inspection of locations who serve alcohol fall into this service;

Landlord registrations - to be a duly authorized landlord in the City of Camden you must be registered accordingly with the Office of the Municipal Clerk;

Dog Registrations - dog registrations / licenses are completed by the Office of the Municipal Clerk.
