Cooper's Ferry Development Association
Cooper's Ferry Development Association (CFDA) is the private, nonprofit corporation charged with creating and implementing a comprehensive revitalization plan for the Camden Waterfront. It was created through as a joint effort of the City of Camden, the Campbell Soup Company and RCA. Since 1984, CFDA has been working to establish a new center of economic activity that can help rebuild Camden's depleted tax base: to create a significant number of jobs for city residents; and to improve Camden's image as a place to live, work and visit.
In carrying out its mission, CFDA performs the following tasks:
-
development of a master plan that is periodically amended to reflect market realities and to incorporate new opportunities.
-
recruitment of private and public developers to implement the various projects outlined in the master plan and assisting these developers in assembling project financing.
-
streamlining of all local, county and state reviews and approvals.
-
oversight of project design and construction to ensure coordination with other waterfront developments as well as timely completion.
Since its inception, CFDA has successfully coordinated more than $275 million of private and public investment in the Camden Waterfront. Projects completed to date include the New Jersey State Aquarium, the Camden Aerospace Center, the Riverlink Ferry, the Blockbuster-Sony Music Entertainment Centre, One Port Center, and numerous public infrastructure and transportation improvements.
